Pune, Bhimashankar Wildlife Sanctuary and Temples Tour Itinerary

Day 1
Our tour representative will meet you in Pune and pick you up from Pune Airport or railway station for your onward journey. Board the vehicle and proceed towards Bhimashankar, which is considered one of the holiest shrines in India. As per legends, the temple is named after the River Bhima, which evaporated due to the war between Lord Shiva and demon Tripurasur. The temple is a perfect example of the Nagara style of architecture. This is an architectural marvel and it depicts the excellency of the skills of the ancient sculptures.

On arrival, you will have an assisted transfer to the pre-booked hotel. Complete the check-in formalities and relax. Freshen up and then get ready to visit the temple. Seek blessings of Lord Shiva and spend some time amidst the serene environs. In the evening, you can also visit Bhimashankar Wildlife Sanctuary. Boasts of sparkling waterfalls and lush greenery, the sanctuary is home to some of the endemic as well as rare species of birds including the Indian Giant Squirrel. It is considered to be one of the most bio-diverse regions of the country. You can explore the forest on foot or enjoy the safari car rides to get glimpses of wildlife species in their natural habitat.
Day 2
On the 2nd day of the tour, I woke up early in the morning. Get ready and visit the temple to attend the early morning Abhishekam ceremony at the Bhimashankar Temple. Soak in the spiritual aura of this holy shrine.

Later, return to the hotel and have a healthy breakfast. You can relax in the hotel or explore the nearby places. There are few temples nearby the Bhimashankar Temple namely Nandi Temple and Kamalaja Temple. The Nandi Temple is dedicated to bull Nandi who was the gate-guardian deity of Kailash and vehicle of Lord Shiva. Kamalaja Temple is dedicated to Goddess Parvati who aided Lord Shiva in the battle against Tripurasur. The goddess is worshipped with offerings of lotus flowers by Brahma. You can spend as much time in the Bhimashankar Temple or you can explore the natural setting of the temple. Enjoy a nature walk and revel in the tranquil surroundings.
